Satta Kotliwala has given some superhit and unforgettable lyrics to Punjabi Music industry. So many singers made their name by singing his lyrics. His lyrics have been sung by Satwinder Bugga, Diljit, Durga Rangeela, Kanwaljit Neeru, Gulzar Lahoria, Amrita Virk, Bhupinder Gill and by many others.

Sakattar Singh (Satta Kotliwala) was born in Vill. Kotli, Distt. Gurdaspur on 16th April 1977 to S. Mohinder Singh. He started writing in very young age when he studying in middle standard. The thing which inspired him to write was hearing other lyricists name in the songs specially Debi Makhsoospuri, Dhammi Heranwala, Jasvir Gunachoria, Davinder khannewala etc. Due to his craziness about Punjabi Music Sakattar Singh wanted to hear his name in the songs. But the way wasn’t that easy for him. He had to struggle very hard going to lots of singers and requesting them to sing his lyrics but it was hard for a new and very young lyricist to settle in the industry. But somehow he got his first song sung by Sandeep Noorpuri in 1994 and song was appreciated by people. After that his struggle continued till he met the man known as ‘Sangeet Samrat’ of this industry, Mr. Charanjeet Ahuja who got impressed by his lyrics and provided to singers like Satwinder Bugga, Kanwaljit Neeru. After that Satta kotliwala never looked back. He gave hit songs one after the other like Suna vairne, Kale Pani Varga, Yaar Na Vichhre, Riwalvar etc.

Recently his latest song ‘Jatt nu Sharab’ sung by Diljit reached the number one spot on Bhangra charts. Satta Kotliwala has still a lot to present to his fans as shortly his lyrics are coming by the voices of Hans Raj Hans, Saleem, Balraj and Harpreet Dhillon.

So here we bring you the exclusive conversation with the man himself.Sat Sri Akal Mr.Jagdev Mann well i am a big fan of your lyrics. I like all your songs specially the latest 'Jithe Pair tu Dharein Mutyaare'. I must say Mr. Jagdev that you are amongst very few lyricists who has given these many superhit songs in young age.

Sat Sri Akal. First of all i thank my god for all this and then i thank to the dear people who have given me this owner and love.So Sir first of all we all would eagerly want to know some of your personal details like your date of birth & your current address.

My date of birth is 14 july, i m still living at my birth place it is village Sheikhdaulat near Jagraon, Distt. Ludhiana.

Sir when did u started writing or did you have this kind of atmosphere at home means anyone from your family used to writing ?

I started writing when i was studying in middle standard. I did not have any kind of atmosphere of writing at home even my family members were against my habbit of writing But somehow i managed it.

Sir please tell us the singers who have sung your songs ?

Fortunately my songs have been sung by some very popular voices in this industry like Late Surjit Binderakhiya, Hans Raj Hans, Dilshad Akhtar, Gippy Grewal, Jagmohan Kaur, Pammi Bai and many more.

Which is your debut song ?

‘Je Sachmuch Chauhna mainu' sung by the great voice Late Surjit Binderakhiya.

Mr. Jagdev do you have any teacher in this field of writing or it is your natural talent ?

Well mostly it is the gift of god to every lyricist. I was also blessed by god but being a great fan of Mr. Shamsher Sandhu's words i requested him to be my tutor and he accepted my request. So from depth of my heart i consider Mr. Shamsher Sandhu my Guru.

Are you doing anything else except writing songs ?

Yes i m running my Music cafe in Jagraon. It is a Training school of Music.

Mr. Jagdev i have heard from somewhere that you are a very good singer also and in starting days of your carrier u used to sing. Now do you have any plan of your own project ?

JM- Thanks. But now i am enjoying my work of writing and i don't have any plan of singing.

Sir which is your favorite song ?

I like all my songs but 'Phulkari' sung by Gippy Grewal and 'Sheesha' sung by Late Surjit Binderakhiya are my favorite songs.

Which are your new songs you are going to give to your fans in future ?

Recently Gippy Grewal's new album CHANDI DE CHHALLE is released in this i have given five songs and in a shortwhile some of new Albums like GAJRE, POONIAN with New Singing sensations like JOTI ATWAL, Bolly Brar are released and in future CHARANJEET CHANNI and SUKHI GREWAL will be released soon.
